Whoa, okay, so get this. Apple just dropped some big news at WWDC, talking about visionOS 26, and it’s like, “Hey, here’s some snazzy new stuff for Vision Pro.” And yeah, there’s like this whole thing about spatial photos that’s supposed to be mind-blowing. Or that’s what they say, at least.
So, Vision Pro already let you look at these spatial photos, right? You know, photos that, um, somehow give you that depth thing—like 3D but not quite? You could take them with the headset or your iPhone 16 and such. Well, apparently, they’ve cranked it up a notch. There’s some magical new generative AI doing its wizardry to make these photos come alive or something. Almost like bobbing your head around to peek around corners, which sounds kind of trippy if you ask me.
And, of course, you can fiddle with these photos in apps like Photos, Spatial Gallery, and oh, even Safari. Seems like they’re trying to sprinkle this feature everywhere. Developers can tinker with a Spatial Scene API to slot it into their own apps too. I mean, that’s gotta be kind of cool if you’re into app development and stuff.
Zillow’s already on board with this whole thing. They’re putting it in their Zillow Immersive app, so you can basically look at houses with this spatial vibe. Imagine house hunting from your couch and being able to kind of see your way around? That’s wild—unless it gets too wild and you never leave your house again. Just kidding—or not.
Anyway, Apple’s visionOS 26 is rolling out later this year, though some people are already taking it for a spin, apparently. Who knows, maybe it’ll be one of those things that changes everything. Or maybe it won’t. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
