Oh wow. So, here’s the deal — Konami just slipped the beans about Silent Hill f during some big event (think it was the PlayStation State of Play, if I’m recalling right). Anyway, they said it’s dropping on September 25. Pretty wild. This is the first new mainline Silent Hill in over ten years! Like, seriously, what took them so long?
So, this one’s set in 1960s Japan. Quite the twist, yeah? Usually, they go all gloomy rural America on us. But this time, fog rolls in like some mysterious old friend and, poof, townsfolk are gone. Maybe it’s got that classic creep, but something tells me they’ve cooked up fresh nightmares too.
There’s this student, Hinako, center stage in all the chaos. Picture this: she’s in school, probably trying to get through a math test — or not — and suddenly, all hell breaks loose. She’s gotta fend off these freakish versions of her classmates. (Imagine someone you know, but now they’re your worst nightmare.) She’s wielding a pipe, of all things. I wonder if she ever imagined she’d be a pipe fighter instead of, I dunno, president of the drama club?
Oh, and then there’s this shrine with some spooky figure lurking. A face you’ll want to forget, yet won’t be able to — trust me on this. Hinako’s got a spear here; maybe she’s had enough of that pipe by now.
Oh, did I mention it’s more about melee combat this time? Less sneaking about, more just going at it. Quite a switch from the last remake of Silent Hill 2. The blog — probably PlayStation’s, if I remembered correctly — mentioned it as a “standalone spinoff.” Sounds like it’s trying to pull in every scaredy cat, from the ones who’ve been around forever to those super new to the freaky party.
Anyway, yeah, it’s landing on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. So gear up, because it’s gonna be a ride.
