Man, so there’s this person in China, Qingchen DIY, who’s done something wild—built a handheld gaming console that’s seriously pushing boundaries. Like, take a 12.5-inch screen and slap 4K on it. Insane, right? Under the hood, it’s got an Intel Core i9-14900HX, which sounds fancy enough. But wait, there’s more—the GPU is an RTX 4090! Who even does that?
Now, AMD’s pretty much ruling the PC gaming handheld scene with stuff like the Asus ROG Ally X and the Steam Deck OLED. But here comes Intel with MSI and Lunar Lake trying to shake things up. Maybe Qingchen wanted to see if Intel and Nvidia could ever join forces. Seems like a plot twist.
Apparently, this huge thing was made by morphing a Tongfang chassis into a handheld. You might’ve unknowingly encountered something from them since they work with big brands like Eluktronics and Maingear. They’re kinda everywhere.
So, Qingchen DIY crammed an i9-14900HX CPU with its P-cores and E-cores into this device, alongside the brawny RTX 4090 GPU. If you can’t wrap your head around this mobile performance, think of laptops like the MSI Titan 18 HX. Those are complete monsters at 18 inches. This handheld, at 12.5 inches? Makes it seem not so colossal?
Surprisingly, all this juice is packed into a device way smaller yet keeping cool. The modder said the GPU temps stayed below 72°C, even while playing God of War on 4K. You know—just your typical afternoon gaming at native resolution!
This handheld beast also handles 64GB of DDR5 RAM and features twin 2TB SSDs. Upgradable too! It sports a 50Wh battery, although probably not great for long stints unplugged.
Anyway, we’re not seeing a commercial release of an Intel/Nvidia handheld soon. But Nvidia alone? They’ve got some big plans with their N1 and N1X chips. Packing up to 20 Arm cores? Yeah, that’s on the horizon for gaming devices in 2026.
