XR Games just dropped the official version of their rhythm game, BEATABLE, on Quest. It’s been hanging out in early access before this—and now, bam, it’s out with a bunch of new stuff. You’re basically gonna drum your desk to the music. Weird, right? But kind of brilliant. No controllers, just your trusty old Quest 2 (or newer if you’re fancy like that). It’s all about smacking notes and clapping at invisible things floating in the air.
Today marks the game’s big exit from early access. It’s also been slapped with a major update. There was that music drop back in April—five songs, if I recall correctly—just after it initially hit early access on Quest.
Oh, and they added this whole custom song and map editor. You can make your own tracks now. Fabulous, right? That means you could compete with your buddies on something you cooked up yourself. The game now boasts 24 songs; half of those were around during early access. If you’re curious (I was), there’s a setlist lounging around on Spotify. It has a catchy anime-type anthem by Kudo Haruka and a powerhouse tune by Mikee Goodman—remember the guy from SikTh? Yeah, that one.
Back when I tried the early access version in April, I thought precision was kinda meh—definitely a work in progress. But honestly, for something casual, it wasn’t leagues away from being impressive.
Now with launch day here, they’ve supposedly nailed down gesture detection so you’re hitting the mark every time. XR Games promises you’ll be grooving right on cue, plus the visuals got a slick makeover. Nice touch.
If you’re itching for more info, BEATABLE is hanging out in the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above, just ten bucks. Go check it out—or not. Your call.
