Oh man, where do I even start with this one? So, apparently, everyone’s much-loved game about a bunch of outlaws who kinda get sadder the more they run around this massive map might be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2. At least, that’s the buzz coming from Gamereactor. They’re all like, “Hey, sources (real people, probably) close to Rockstar are saying this game’s gonna show up on Nintendo’s new gizmo maybe, just maybe, later this year.” And, get this, a Spanish site, Nintendúo, seems to back up the story with, you guessed it, more sources. Wild stuff.
Oh yeah, there was this whole bit about how Gamereactor heard talk of a fancy graphics and performance upgrade for RDR2—kind of like giving it a good polish for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This could drop around the same time as our cowboys gallop onto the Switch 2. Imagine those graphics, though. Might be enough to make the tumbleweeds jealous.
Now, speaking of big game names: Take-Two is already planning to throw some heavy hitters like Borderlands 4, Civilization 7, NBA 2K, and WWE 2K onto the Switch 2 bandwagon. Adding something from Rockstar just feels like sticking a cherry on top. I read somewhere that in an interview on The Game Business, the big boss at the publisher, Strauss Zelnick, chatted about these games making their way to the Switch. He was kinda like, “Let’s see how these things play out.” Makes sense, right? But he’s also got some faith.
Zelnick does mention something curious—about Nintendo traditionally doing better with their first-party games, but hey, now they’re aiming for more, apparently. We’ll just have to sit back (maybe with some popcorn?) and see how it all unfolds. They wanted to try this out, and those guys seem to have taken up the challenge.
If by some stroke of fate RDR2 does hit the Switch 2, it’s bound to push Nintendo’s GameChat to its limits. Imagine people coming together, yakking about horse bits and cold weather or whatever memorably weird stuff comes up. Kinda like one of those chaotic Minecraft movie nights, but with added drama—like stagecoach robberies and surprise meet-ups with the Ku Klux Klan. Yeah, that last bit—it’s a thing in the game. Not sure why I felt the need to bring it up, honestly.
And what about you? Going for a ride with RDR2 on the Switch 2 if it drops? Comment below, or just let it stew in your brain. Sorry for the accidental rhyme there—it happens!
