Disappointing Update for Switch Owners Regarding Power Rangers Game

For those eagerly awaiting the Nintendo Switch release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind, you’ll need to exercise a bit more patience. Originally slated for a December 10 launch, the Switch version will now arrive on December 19, 2024. It’s a minor delay, but one that keeps fans on the edge just a little longer. Fortunately, players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox can dive into the game as scheduled on December 10.

2024 has been a relatively slow year for Power Rangers enthusiasts, making the announcement of Rita’s Rewind by Hasbro and developer Digital Eclipse at the 2024 Summer Games Fest a highlight. This retro-inspired beat-em-up brings back those iconic Teenagers with Attitude, promising a nostalgic ride with its side-scrolling action and classic pixel art. The game spices things up with modern twists, including 3D Megazord battles and rail shooter segments. The storyline ties into last year’s special, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Once and Always, where the sinister Robo Rita travels back in time to team up with her younger self in an attempt to finally eliminate the Rangers. With little else on the horizon for the franchise, fans are understandably excited to get their hands on this game when it debuts on December 10.

Despite the enthusiasm, news broke that the Nintendo Switch version wouldn’t meet its original release date. Earlier this week, Digital Eclipse explained that unforeseen issues have caused a slight setback, pushing the launch to December 19, 2024.

While online multiplayer won’t be immediately available for Xbox and Switch due to some technical hurdles, it won’t affect two-player co-op on PlayStation and Steam, or offline multiplayer for all platforms. Rita’s Rewind offers local co-op for up to five players, letting friends join forces as the core Power Rangers or the unlockable Green Ranger.

Longtime fans of the Power Rangers have been eagerly anticipating Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind for nearly half a year, drawn by the promise of a nostalgic gaming experience reminiscent of the original show and the classic side-scrolling beat-em-ups.
