Alright, so the thing is, I somehow ended up playing this new FMV game, “Dead Reset.” Not sure why I’m hooked, but it slipped back into the indie scene like those vinyl records everyone suddenly loves again. Maybe it’s ’cause they have this low-key charm, kinda like those choose-your-own-whatever books from way back when. Remember those?
Anyway, here comes the plot: you’re suddenly Cole Mason, this surgeon dude who wakes up on a space station floor. Boom! Armed dude yanks him up, all sci-fi horror flick style. Aliens vibes, anyone? Blah blah, he’s got a patient with a weird growth — yikes, right? No pressure, just do surgery or, you know, NOT. That’s the gig; make wonky choices. Tried making Cole snatch the gun, ended up with body bits all over. Yeah, an alien popped out! Reset time. Loops over and over, Groundhog Day but terrifying. Oh, and watch your ID if you’re thinking about playing with guns. I found out the hard way—kablooey!
Actors, man. They’re in it deep, really selling those lines with some genuine oomph. A few shaky moments, but hey, under pressure? Anyone’s guess how those convos turned so friendly so fast. Time constraints or plot quirks? Whatever. Horror likes to shove folks into a quick bond; cue entrails and screams. Funny thing, the alien’s both creepy and kinda silly—like a low-budget horror movie gone right. Flashes on screen for gunshots brought back memories of old arcade games. Remember that Area 51 shooter? Nostalgia, anyone?
So yeah, I dig it. Just a taste, nothing too revealing, of “Dead Reset’s” chaos. First chapter only, but Cole and gang hit the notes — well acted and intriguing. And I’m sitting here wondering about that whole time loop mess and what’s beneath the skin surprise. September 11th, it drops on Nintendo Switch. Will I play the full game? Probably. Because why not?
