NVIDIA Addresses RTX 5090/5090D GPU Failures, Launches Investigation Into Reported Problems

Recently, NVIDIA has been prompted to launch an investigation following several reports of GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs becoming non-functional, or “bricked.”

The buzz around issues with the RTX 5090 and its Chinese counterpart, the RTX 5090D, has been growing, as users encounter problems that don’t seem to have a straightforward fix. Many have attempted various troubleshooting techniques, but the success stories are few and far between.

Some users have managed to find quirky workarounds, but for most, the problem remains stubbornly unsolved. It’s now a widespread enough concern that it caught NVIDIA’s attention. In fact, NVIDIA has reached out to PC Gamer to confirm they’re looking into these reported issues with the RTX 50 series, stating:

“We are investigating the reported issues with the RTX 50 series.”

While the problem’s cause hasn’t been pinpointed, some speculate it’s tied to architectural or driver compatibility issues rather than inherent hardware failures.
