“This mindset applies to both the manga and the game. Recently, games, comics, and movies delve deeply into themes and character arcs. Personally, though, I wanted to regress—take things back a notch. The retro look and feel is at the core of my interests,” Imamura says. “I hope players find a sense of nostalgia—a reminder of their youthful days when simplicity was life’s greatest pleasure.”
Still, Omega 6 is far from shallow. It crafts a tantalizing narrative set in a future where human lifespans are extended beyond imagination and aliens are encroaching on Earth, spurring humanity’s quest for a new home aboard the Omega 6 starship. Against this epic backdrop, players join Thunder, Kyla, and a robot named Prop on a treasure hunt that traverses diverse planetary landscapes.

“We built these three planets to ensure players remain engaged, giving each location its distinctive flair rather than monotonously treading the same ground repeatedly,” Imamura remarks. “Initially, it was one planet with a few satellites, but as development progressed, we recognized that lacked scale. The solution? Elevate the satellites to planets, inspiring the game’s subtitle, The Triangle Stars—a choice implemented near completion,” he adds.
Each planet embodies simplicity: one scorches with heat, another blankets with cold, and the third teems with treasure hunters and dubious characters. While not delving into elaborate cultures like Mass Effect, these planets offer a playful mix, ensuring players quickly adapt to and revel in their missions, channeling the lighthearted charm of a beloved Saturday morning cartoon.
