The other day, I stumbled onto this quirky gem. Or should I call it a classic now? “The Invisible Hours,” yeah, that VR mystery thing–Rob Yescombe had a hand in creating it. Heard he’s got the rights back, so guess what? He might do a remaster for all those glitzy new VR headsets. TV and movies too, maybe. Hollywood Reporter was chatting about it, said Rob’s hunting for partners to turn this into a film or show. Can you imagine that? A real-life Clue on screen. Wild times.
The game’s kinda like an Agatha Christie novel mashed up with Clue. You’re just there, floating around, spying on characters in this big, spooky mansion. Rewind, fast-forward–it’s like DVRing a murder mystery. And the victim? Nikola Tesla. Yep, the genius himself. Seven suspects, hidden motives… it’s like solving a jigsaw puzzle, but you’re a ghost. Spooky, right?
It was a big hit back in 2017 on PC VR and PSVR. But here’s the kicker: Tequila Works, the developer, planned to put it on Quest, and then… poof, gone. Studio shut down in 2024. Ouch. But here’s Rob, grabbing the reins again, thinking it’s perfect for a glow-up. Why not? VR’s all the rage now. Millions more have headsets compared to the dusty days of 2017.
Rob’s pretty jazzed about this one. Says it was the best creative ride of his life. Fans are into it too. He gets love letters or something from them, which is kinda sweet. If nostalgia can power a remaster, there’s definitely juice here.
Outside his VR realm, Rob’s been writing up a storm. Twilight Zone, Arizona Sunshine 2… Heard he dipped his pen in films too. Worked on “Outside the Wire” for Netflix, some action comedy called “Jackpot!” under Paul Feig. And then there’s Alien, Blade Runner… even Family Guy. Busy guy, huh?
Anyway, I rambled. But if you’re into mysteries or wanna feel like an invisible sleuth, keep an eye on “The Invisible Hours.” Who knows what Rob will cook up next?
