Alright, so check this out. Imagine I’m just sitting here, sipping my coffee, thinking about virtual worlds or something. Then bam! I stumble upon this juicy tidbit about Eldramoor: Haven in the Mist popping up on Kickstarter. They’re all like, “Hey, remember Orbus VR? Yeah, it’s gone. But, we’re bringing all that fun back!” or something along those lines.
So yeah, next week, they’re launching a campaign, eyes set on getting this new VR MMORPG off the ground for Quest 3 and SteamVR headsets by the end of next year. Crazy, right? It’s the handiwork of Resolute Games, some folks who used to be hooked on Orbus back in the day. They decided to whip up this studio early last year — February 2024, to be exact — trying to fill that void left behind by other games biting the dust.
Now here’s the kicker, or maybe not — it depends on your interest. They talk about Eldramoor like it’s some mystical adventure where you follow, uh, Eldranis — a hero of sorts. Picture this: You’re chilling in a tavern, mastering some medieval job, playing mini-games — no biggie. Everyone fits in. But, plot twist, some age-old baddie is back and you have to fend off doom from wiping out your pixel paradise.
And oh man, the classes! Warrior, Mage, Monk, Alchemist — you name it. Plus, raids, dungeons, bosses… there’s even PvP zones if you’re feeling competitive. Fishing, foraging, smithing… do these even belong in a quest? Whatever, they sound fun, maybe? Even if not all of them show up at launch.
The dough — they’re starting with the same goal as Zenith, so, $25,000. Cool, I guess? Which, by the way, VR MMORPGs haven’t had it easy. Orbus went under earlier, and even Zenith’s creators at Ramen VR hit pause because money stuff got dicey.
Oh, and then there’s Ilysia VR, which seems to be doing alright. Thanks to a successful Kickstarter from back in 2020, it’s happily existing on Quest and SteamVR with regular updates.
On Resolute’s Discord, their CEO, Lynn M. Souza, spills the tea — Orbus was a trip and all but really it’s showing its age, like your grandma’s ’80s sitcom tapes (who even watches those anymore?). Then Zenith and Ilysia tried their hand — and yes, she was into Ilysia too, kicking in on Kickstarter and Patreon.
So what’s the endgame here? Eldramoor hitting your VR setup in December 2026, with alphas floating about late 2025, and a beta chucking itself into your life by summer 2026.
Mark June 24th in your calendars if you care to chip in when their Kickstarter goes live, rolling through till July 24th. And if you’re the wishlist-type, hop over to Steam and, well, wish away.
And now, what was I saying again? Right — let’s see if VR can find its groove again with this one. Fingers crossed.
