The Intel PPM driver is a nifty little tool that lets you tweak the voltage frequency on Intel’s Core Ultra 200S CPUs, boosting both efficiency and performance in real-time.
ASRock recently announced that its Z890 motherboards will now support Intel Platform Power Management, thanks to a fresh driver update. After Intel launched its Core Ultra 200S processors, motherboard manufacturers, including ASRock, have been busy rolling out BIOS updates to fine-tune these processors. ASRock’s implementation of Intel PPM on Windows 11 promises to automatically streamline performance for the Arrow Lake chips.
ASRock is quite enthusiastic about this new development and encourages Z890 motherboard owners to grab the Intel PPM driver version 1007.20240913 from their motherboard’s support page. This driver allows for dynamic adjustments of the CPU’s frequency and voltage, ideally leading to smoother operations and noticeably better gaming performance.
According to ASRock, users could see performance gains of up to 13.23% in gaming scenarios, although detailed data is somewhat limited. However, they did share a compelling benchmark result from Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail. With Intel PPM, performance shot up from 29,157 to 33,017 points at high settings in 1080p. This impressive result was achieved with a setup featuring the Core Ultra 9 285K and AMD’s RX 7900 XTX—both heavyweights in their class.
