Nintendo Switch 2 just hit the shelves, and guess what? Someone’s already pulled it apart. I mean, seriously, couldn’t they wait a bit? Anyway, the folks over at ProModding—those brave souls—decided to open up this shiny new toy. They’ve got this video where they go all Sherlock with a microscope, poking at circuits.
First off, they go to town on the screws. Yeah, they’re hidden under the kickstand and those colorful covers where Joy-Cons snap on. Once those are out, bam, back cover gone. I always imagine doing this myself, but then I remember I have, like, zero patience.
So inside, it’s like a metallic jungle (not literally, okay?). ProModder takes out this metal shield thingy after unscrewing more bits—including antennae. Just saying, if you’ve never snapped an antenna, are you even trying? They also yank out the cooler and battery, finally getting to the motherboard. And there it is—the shiny new Nvidia chip labeled GMLX30-A1. Reminds me of those leaks from 2024. Nostalgia, right?
ProModder doesn’t stop there. They go deeper—literally zooming in on every chip. It’s kinda therapeutic to watch, but hey, I’m not planning to play doctor on my hardware anytime soon. Not after hearing about warranty risks. Plus, Nintendo’s all like, “Don’t mess with our stuff or we might brick your console.” Yikes.
In the end, while this teardown isn’t like, brain surgery level difficult, better leave it to the pros, you know? I mean, ProModder has it covered on YouTube if you’re curious. Just a little heads up—opening your console might not end well. Who needs a paperweight that used to play Mario, right?
Tomorrow’s the big day—June 5! Everyone’s gearing up, including Nintendo with their secret repair guide. Until then, it’s pretty much us watching modders go wild. Remember to hit that follow button on Tom’s Hardware for all the latest. Stay techy!
