It seems like just yesterday that Red Dead Redemption 2 made its triumphant return to PS Plus, beckoning players to tackle its expansive open-world Western once more. Yet, come October, it’s time for this title and a few other gems to bid farewell to the PlayStation subscription service.
Recently, the "Last Chance" section in the PSN store (both on PS5 and PS4) got an update. It’s a heads-up about the games leaving the PS Plus Extra library at the month’s end. Along with Red Dead Redemption 2, which graced the service again in May, we’re also losing a fan favorite, Kingdom Hearts. That hits a bit hard for me, especially since I just introduced the first game to my kids over the past weekend. Here’s a rundown of all 16 games making their exit in October:

It’s hard to ignore the departure of iconic titles like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. On the other hand, innovative indies like Blasphemous and What Remains of Edith Finch are both definite standouts. Also noteworthy is Teardown, a destructively delightful voxel-based sim. The most recent stint of Red Dead Redemption 2 lasted a mere six months. The Kingdom Hearts series’ exit marks the latest in Square Enix RPGs leaving the platform.
Recently, players have gotten pretty adept at predicting which games might leave PS Plus based on typical six, 12, and 18-month deal cycles. With that in mind, some fans speculated that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Humanity might not stick around either. But for now, they’re still available. Consider this your six-month alert to dive into them if you haven’t yet.
