Okay, so here’s the deal. There’s this thing coming out — The Jackbox Party Pack 11 — on Xbox this fall. And they’ve packed it with five new games. Five! Imagine being excited about a drawing game, a sound effects game, and even a freakin’ trivia RPG called “Legends of Trivia.” Oh, and don’t forget the joke-writing and social deduction ones too. It’s like they concocted a party in a box, and threw it onto Xbox. Get it? Eh, never mind.
Now this “Legends of Trivia,” it’s kinda like your usual trivia but with a fantasy dressing. Work with your buddies to knock out some monsters by smartly answering trivia while dodging their hits. You can almost feel the drama. We spoke with some of the brains behind this madness, like Warren Arnold (Game Director), Hector Padilla (Lead Artist, no less), and Nate Sandberg (Audio Lead — sounds fancy, right?).
Anyway, Warren rambled about the gameplay — you hit monsters with correct answers, but mess up and they’ll thwack you back. So, rally your team, fight the beasts, claim glory. Easy to say, harder to master, huh? This game, apparently, is their biggest tackle yet, loaded with animation and all that visual jazz.
Then there’s Hector, who’s been dreaming up this stuff for about five or six years. Six years! Can you believe it got shelved just because… reasons? Anyway, Nate nudged it back into life, and here we are with a trivia game that’s also an RPG. How’s that for a comeback?
Oh, and the inspiration — like, Final Fantasy kind of inspiration for the music, thanks to Nate. He mixed it up with analog synths, lutes, and even trombones — yes, trombones. Toss in some cartoon sound effects, and you’re looking at humor and intensity smashing into each other. And Hector, being a sucker for Ken Sugimori’s Pokémon art, brought that touch into designing characters. But UI design? A tough nut, even for him.
Favorite character, you ask? Hector’s a fan of Azura, the Princess Mage, and a scary jester named Bingo. Apparently, clowns don’t freak him out — weird, right? Nate loved crafting the audio for this massive ogre boss who rides a tiny donkey. No joke. Imagine the bassy ogre vibes clashing with squeaky toy sounds. Talk about contrasts.
At the end of it all, they hope players feel immersed, that the music brings you into the story. Nostalgia, perhaps? Bedrock melodies linger like an old tune you can’t shake off. Anyway, keep an eye on Instagram and TikTok for updates. Party Pack 11’s about to hit, folks. Buckle up!
