Adding Non-Steam Games to Your Steam Deck Using Heroic Games Launcher

Valve’s Steam Deck, man, it’s like… the game changer everyone talks about. When it dropped, folks went wild. And then, sure, a bunch of other handhelds came along. But, let’s be real, the Steam Deck is still the king when it comes to gaming on the go. But, you might say: “It’s for Steam games only, right?”

Wrong!

No joke, you can get way more out of it. Think of the Heroic Games Launcher as your gateway to those GoG, Amazon, and Epic libraries. You know, those free games we all hoard for some reason — guilty as charged! Now they’re right there, ready to play while you’re, like, chilling in bed or pretending to listen to the tour guide on your commute.

So, my wild project? Make Heroic Games Launcher part of my Steam Library universe, so I can just veg on my couch and game away. You start by popping Heroic onto your Steam Deck. Just hit the Steam button, go to Power, and — essentially — swap to the desktop.

And then I get sidetracked. The Discover icon is like, the app store you never knew you needed. Search for Heroic there, click, install, and chill. Run it from the Games menu — because why not, right? Click through some pop-ups, update notes, and whatnots, and you’re golden.

Setting up your accounts is next — Epic, GoG, whatever floats your boat. I’m all about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Yes, cowabunga, dudes. Games ready? Hit up Proton Experimental for the latest tweaks. Might glitch, but usually, it’s all good.

Installing games can be a blur. Shredder’s Revenge was quick — or maybe time flies when you’re feeding pizza to turtles. Cyberpunk 2077? That was like watching paint dry, but who doesn’t love Night City?

So, Heroic’s cozy on your deck now — but wait, we’re not done. Let’s slide it into the Steam library. Head to Games, right-click Heroic, and “Add to Steam”. Smooth sailing, right?

But, oh, we can get fancier. Steamgriddb lets me pimp it out with custom artwork. Search, download, slap it onto your library, and bam, it’s like it was always there. Do the same for the background and logo if you’re feeling extra. Who knew tweaking a library could be so… zen?

Once you double-click to return to Gaming Mode, it’s all set. Heroic Games Launcher becomes your go-to, just a press away every time you fire up the Deck. More games, more fun, no hassle. Boom.
