Sure thing, let’s dive in. So, Bigscreen’s come up with this new twist on their Beyond 2e headset, right? It’s called the ‘VRChat Edition’, and honestly, I think it’s got some charm for the die-hard VR folks. Why? Well, it’s specifically for the VRChat crowd, which is huge. People live in that place, ya know?
So, late last month, they started shipping Beyond 2. Or was it Beyond 2e? Yeah, yeah, both I think. And now we’ve got this VRChat Edition, which you might be able to snag in September 2025. Seems far away, but it’ll sneak up on us—time flies and all that.
Tech stuff? Specs of the VRChat Edition are pretty much the same as the standard Beyond 2e. Eye-tracking, 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays—fancy, right? Plus, a 116° field of view. Sounds immersive. They say the whole thing is just 107 grams. But what does that feel like? A banana, maybe? Anyway, it’s light.
Oh, and get this—it’s got this see-through Atomic Purple shell and hand-drawn art on the packaging. It’s like a throwback Nintendo 64 vibe. Quirky, but I dig it. But heads up, it’s $1,269, which is a $50 nudge up from the old model. But for some, that color might be worth it.
And just to throw it out there—you need a VR-ready PC for this thing to even work. SteamVR base stations, controllers, you name it. Check your PC—could save you some headaches.
What’s neat, they’re throwing in exclusive VRChat goodies—stickers, badges, all those digital badges. Apparently, rarer drops are coming too. Something to hold out for if you’re into that scene.
Oh, for those pre-order folks, think you can upgrade your order if you give support a poke. How easy is that process? No clue. But worth a shot if you’re already invested.
Meanwhile, if you’re curious, Bigscreen’s CEO Darshan Shankar and VRChat’s Tupper had this long chat about it all. Didn’t catch all of it, but seemed intense in a good way. Eye-tracking’s gonna be big in VRChat—they really drilled into why it matters, you know?
And there you go. Not sure why any of this stuck with me, but hey, it did.
