You know what’s wild? Maelle is, like, invincible. Seriously.
By the time you hit Act 3, she’s this total powerhouse. The skill tree for this awesome teen just explodes with crazy abilities. Before they patched it, her Stendhal move basically made the game a cakewalk. I mean, literally billions of damage. Wiping out anything or anyone. I don’t get why I remember this, but, oh well.
Even after they toned it down, she’s still the MVP of Clair Obscur. It’s kind of silly—like, you just go through the motions with other characters, setting her up for that ultimate win. Burn enemies with Lune, and then bam! Maelle swoops in with Swift Stride, then Virtuoso Stance, doubling her damage. The numbers just soar, especially against those foes that seem like they’re running on infinite batteries. Not that anyone asked, but it’s fun seeing how high you can pile those numbers.
Some folks out there aren’t just in it to win. Nah, they’re out there trying to break the game, like really mess it up. Maelle might be the poster child for this, but Sciel’s got her own tricks too. Even if you’re not aiming to win—just tearing the game apart for laughs—Sciel with her scythe can really mess things up. If I’m being honest, it sounds kinda fun.
Maelle and Sciel, though—they probably top the charts for damage. Lune’s more about spreading the damage love or healing peeps, not so much the one-hit wonders. I can never quite get Verso’s Perfection right. Monoco took me a while to figure out too. Wasn’t until late in the game that I could really smack enemies around with him. But hitting a billion with him? Yeah, that’s not happening anytime soon.
Even after Maelle’s nerf, she’s still off the charts. Sandfall even said, you can still break the game, and tons of people have shown that’s true. Honestly, if you’ve been through Renoir’s Drafts, having an unbeatable build feels like the least you deserve. It’s a wild ride, that’s for sure.
