Alright, so here’s the thing with the new Pokémon TCG Pocket set, Eevee Grove. It’s been around for a bit, and if you’re not desperately chasing cards for that deck of yours, maybe it’s time to… pause? Gather some Hourglasses for whatever’s next on the horizon. End of July, they say. But the details? Who even knows. Could see some Gen 2 or Gen 3 coming back because, honestly, they’ve kinda ghosted us on those in the Pokémon TCG Pocket. And, can we please get some solid Fighting cards? It’s been a dry spell since that Triumphant Light gig.
But, okay, don’t get me wrong. There are decent Fighting decks. They just seem… stuck? Like an old playlist on repeat. Folks are mostly into Space-Time Smackdown or Triumphant Light. Post those, it’s like, crickets. Sure, Lucario Ex from Shining Revelry pokes its head out now and again, but let’s be real, he’s not stealing any shows. Oh, and we’ve seen Passimian Ex, Lycanroc Ex, yawn. The big players are still Rampardos or Garchomp Ex, if you’re asking me.
Now, if you haven’t heard about Rampardos from Space-Time Smackdown, where have you been? It’s hands-down the reigning champ for Fighting cards. Came out January 2025 and still crushing it. Think about it—150 HP as a non-Ex, and it hits like a truck at 130 damage using just one Fighting Energy. Sure, Head Smash has a 50 recoil if you KO the opponent, but hey, could be worse.
Fighting Pokémon, they’re all about that life. Fast, sharp, take no prisoners. Thing is, Rampardos is a Stage 2, and you gotta go through Skull Fossil. Sounds rough, but Celestial Guardians’ Rare Candy makes it a breeze, gets you hitting by Turn 2, and let me tell you, that’s just bonkers. Pair it with Silvally from Extradimensional Crisis? Match made in heaven.
Okay, um, where was I? Right. So, it’s considered a “half-Fighting” deck with Rampardos and Silvally. Perfectly unbalanced, in a fun way. I mean, Tear into those Space-Time Smackdown packs if you’re hunting for power. But, we seriously need fresh blood—or ink?—for Fighting cards. Rampardos can’t defend the honor of the type forever.
The second-best, mind you, still involves our pal Rampardos, teamed with Garchomp Ex from Triumphant Light. That one’s a veteran at this game. Packs a punch, two attacks—Linear Attack for strategic snipes and Dragon Claw for the big hits. Still, Rampardos takes the cake.
And, don’t even start me on the synergy. Both being Stage 2, Lillie helps keep them fresh with 60 healing. Then there’s Cyrus. Pair him with Garchomp, and… voila! Sneak attacks from the bench? Check.
Now, if you’re thinking all this chaos leaves you with questions you’d think I’d have answers for, yeah… same. But isn’t that just the fun of it all?
