Alright, here we go.

Hey there! I’m Michael, just a regular guy who happens to tinker with games. I worked on this quirky little thing called Time Flies. Yeah, it’s the one where you’re buzzing around as a fly. Weird, right? It’s hitting PS5 on July 31st. Hard to believe I first talked about this on the PlayStation Blog ages ago. Time flies… pun not intended. Or maybe it was. Who knows.

So, the start. We check where you’re playing from—geographically, that is.

Now, get this: Switzerland folks live, on average, 83.3 years as per WHO. In the game, that means you’re a fly for 83.3 seconds. A fly, buzzing around, ticking off a bucket list before, well, you know. Pfff. USA? You’ve got 76.4 seconds. Not my stats, blame the numbers people.

So yeah, some places are harder. Because, you know, fractions of seconds really trip you up.

What to do before the big ol’ fly swatter in the sky gets you? Good question. We’ve got a list—no spoilers. You gotta figure it out. Die trying. Even if it’s just a digital death. Keep going, keep… flying? Lots of chances, though. Almost like real life. But with wings.

Making this thing? Ridiculously puzzling. What can a fly do? “Find God” is my top pick. Says a lot about me, huh? But yeah, no spoilers on that front.

Controller design? Meh.

Played loads of games, but have you ever… played a fly? Inside a game? While playing a game? So meta, right? I thought, ‘would it be cool if you could find God in all that?’ Started thinking of a platformer where you skedaddle from hell to heaven. Eh, it had issues.

So, here’s the deal. As a fly, you can only push one tiny button at a time. Like, everything’s activated with your tiny flight stick. Just bounce, land, walk. Repeat. No big combos here. Simple, right? Or maddening. Depends on your vibe.

Made a tiny game—left, right, a little trigger. Bow, wow, the fun! Don’t need heaven or hell to find God. Just look both ways. Maybe left is right. It’s philosophical like that. Oh, but worry not! You might find another game hidden inside. It’s like gaming Inception, but less dramatic.
