Nintendo just dropped a bombshell — I mean, who would’ve thought, right? — with their announcement of Switch 2’s Drag x Drive. Yeah, it’s that wheelchair basketball thing with mouse controls? Launching on Aug. 14, same day as Madden NFL 26. That’s like a clash of titans or something. Or maybe just a coincidence. Who knows.
I gotta say, Drag x Drive sounds like one wild ride from Nintendo, totally priced at $19.99. It’s like they’re giving us a taste of what summer’s cooking up for Switch 2. So August won’t be all crickets and tumbleweeds in the game department. Plus, they’re throwing in Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Star-Crossed Land expansion. New Mouthful Modes? Count me in… or maybe not.
But hey, July isn’t looking too bad either. We’ve got Donkey Kong Bananza on the list — don’t ask me what that’s about, because I have no clue — and Super Mario Party Jamboree with some fresh Jamboree TV stuff. Oldies and newbies. I guess there’s a rhyme to their reason… or maybe not.
September’s kind of a bummer though. Nada from Nintendo. Maybe they’re going on vacation? Third parties are pitching in with Borderlands 4 and some Final Fantasy thing. October perks up again with Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Cross-generation release number… I lost count.
Looking into 2025, there are rumors of Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (yup, also for old Switch). September seems like Metroid time, or is that just me guessing? Anyway, Kirby’s re-release might keep folks busy then.
The fall could get a boost from Hades 2, and could you believe another Elden Ring?, and yeah, Hollow Knight: Silksong is lingering, along with Call of Duty? Whenever Nintendo decides to clear the stage. Zelda brawler thing, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, might sneak in by early 2026.
Oh, and can’t skip mentioning, all those gems from the GameCube era could make a comeback on Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Stuff like Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi’s Mansion, to name a couple. Nintendo likes to play it close to the chest, after all. So, expect surprises. Or don’t. Your choice.
