Sure, diving right in…

Whoa, so Meta and Microsoft decided to drop the Quest 3S Xbox Edition today. Limited edition, no less. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, we heard you like XR and Xbox cloud gaming, so here’s a brand new toy!” But, hang on—don’t get too excited thinking it’s some direct competitor to PlayStation VR. Nope. Not happening. It’s really just a Quest 3S (128GB) painted in Xbox’s signature Carbon Black and Velocity Green. Pretty snazzy if you ask me. But hey, don’t quote me on that.
Alright, let’s talk dollars. This whole bundle sets you back $399.99. And what do you get for all those pennies, you ask? A pair of Touch Plus controllers for your whole VR/MR escapade, a limited Xbox controller, a special Elite Strap—hold your horses, not the one with the extended battery—and a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. So, yeah, quite the package.
You’d probably shell out around $490 if all these goodies were bought separately. Here’s the lowdown: the Quest 3S itself is $299, the Elite Strap at $69, a standard Xbox controller for $64, and three months of Game Pass Ultimate for sixty bucks. I did math, good for me!
But wait… might not even be necessary for you. If you’ve already got an Xbox controller and Game Pass Ultimate kicking around, this might just be extra fluff. They added Xbox cloud gaming to Quest in late 2023, so you could be playing over 400 streamed games just fine with a Quest 2. Just saying.
Oh, and guess what? The Quest 3S Xbox Edition also tosses in a three-month Horizon+ game service subscription. Normally $8 a month, Horizon+ gives you over 30 Quest games, including hits like Asgard’s Wrath 2 and Red Matter. I mean, who doesn’t love a good deal?
Remember that big reveal in April at Connect 2024? Yep, that’s when all this was initially spilled. Meta also hinted at more XR headsets they’re cooking up, working with ASUS and Lenovo. Curious about what gadgets they’re brewing to target performance and other stuff like productivity.
Oh, and if you’re itching to snag one, they’re on sale right now at meta.com, Best Buy in the US, and in the UK at Argos and EE. Supplies are supposedly “extremely limited,” so if you want one, better hustle.
Alright, guess that’s all the chaos I’ve got for now. Happy gaming, or whatever else you end up doing with it!
