Introducing Nightfall: Fresh Challenges and Exciting Rewards

Updated January 7, 2025: Another exciting week unfolds for Destiny 2 fans as the game’s missions, challenges, and rewards are once again refreshed. The much-anticipated Episode Revenant is charging ahead with Act 3, introducing thrilling new content including the exotic mission Kell’s Fall. This mission rewards players with the exotic slug shotgun, Slayer’s Fang—a much-anticipated addition for Guardians looking to expand their arsenals.

Destiny 2 enthusiasts were also taken by surprise over the weekend when the original Destiny received an unexpected update. A flurry of reports revealed that the Tower’s social space was suddenly adorned with decorations reminiscent of The Dawning, featuring Ghost-shaped lights amongst other festive touches. It turns out these decorations matched pieces intended for a 2017 event titled Days of the Dawning, which never saw the light of day due to the event being shelved.

On top of the new Act 3 tasks, the weekly reset has arrived, bringing the usual rotation of content, activities, and rewards for eager Guardians. Whether you’re diving into Nightfalls, competing in Crucible modes, or tackling weekly challenges, here’s the scoop on all things new for the week of January 7.

Weekly Nightfall and Modifiers

This week, Guardians will tackle the Nightfall Strike: The Corrupted.

Advanced Modifiers:

• Champions: Overload and Unstoppable
• Hero Modifiers: Extra Shields. Solar, Void, and Arc.
• Galvanized: Combatants have more health and are tougher to stagger.
• Overcharge: Favored for Rocket Launchers and Kinetic Weapons when using corresponding Surge elements.
• Threat: Arc
• Surge: Void and Arc

Expert Modifiers:

• All previous modifiers.
• Equipment Locked: Swapping gear mid-mission is disabled.
• Randomized Banes: Enemies may be empowered by random Banes.
• Expert Modifiers: Extra Shields

Master Modifiers:

• All previous modifiers.
• Class Warfare: Activating class abilities boosts your team’s damage and lessens incoming threats when active.
• Master Modifiers: Locked Loadout, Enhanced Champions, and Extra Shields.

Grandmaster Modifiers:

• All prior modifiers.
• Chill Touch: Melee attacks slow players down.
• Grandmaster Modifiers: Extinguish, Limited Revives, Join In Progress Disabled, Contest, Locked Loadout, Extra Champions, and Extra Shields.

Episode: Revenant Challenges

Week 14:

• Fortress I & II: Complete Acts I and II of Act III "Kell of Kells."
• Europa Activities: Progress by engaging in tasks across bounties, patrols, public events, and Lost Sectors on Europa.
• Last Rites: Secure 150 ability final blows in Crucible, Gambit, or Vanguard Ops, with bonuses for Guardian takedowns.
• Dark Shadows: Defeat 400 Scorn using Void damage in Gambit or Vanguard Ops.
• Darkest Nightfall: Tackle any Nightfall set at Advanced difficulty or higher, with extra points for finishing more challenging levels.
• Classified: Details still under wraps.

Exotic Mission Rotation

Bungie has reintroduced a variety of exotic missions, offering new loot, weapons, and craftable exotic items. Similar to Raid and Dungeon rotators, these change regularly.

Current Featured Mission: Operation: Seraph Shield (featuring the Revision Zero Exotic Pulse Rifle)

Raid and Dungeon Rotation

Introduced in Season 17, Bungie allows players to farm selected Raids and Dungeons with updated rewards each week. Episode: Revenant introduces rotations with double offerings:

• Featured Dungeons: Pit of Heresy and Spire of the Watcher

• Salvation’s Edge: Varied Geometry

• King’s Fall: Multiple challenges including Hands Off and Devious Thievery

Ritual Activities: Crucible and Gambit

Players can boost their Pathfinder system progress by engaging in Vanguard Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit activities.

Neomuna:

Nightmare Rotation includes formidable foes such as Fikrul, Crota, and Phogoth with their respective emotional stakes.

Dreaming City:

• Ascendant Challenge: Forfeit Shrine located in Garden of Esila
